Does God really provide?

We have all gone through seasons where we have prayed for a certain thing and asked God to provide but it seems that He does not hear that prayer. We cry, get angry at God and even lose our faith in Him because what we believe Him for simply does not happen.

In these moments it's very important for us to not run from God or simply just abandon our faith in Him. It's all the more important to sit at His feet and ask Him what He's showing us about Himself. For the truth is that God cannot lie. He is our Provider and He still provides. He might not provide in the way we expect Him to but He still provides.
I woke up feeling very anxious this morning and when I got to the root of it, I realised that my anxiety is really from my lack of trust in God. I have been praying for the Lord to provide for me in quite a few things and some of those things He has provided, but some He has not. My thoughts have been filled with all kinds of worry and anxiety from what I do not have. This has caused me wonder if the Lord is answering or will answer my prayers and provide what I need.
In my anxious thoughts this morning I was reminded of the passage in Scripture in Luke 12:27-28 which says: Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith!
Wow! What a beautiful reminder that the Lord provides for us and that we should neither worry nor be anxious about anything because He is the one who provides for us.
God is loving and caring, and if He cares for the lilies and the grass the way He does, how much more for us who are His children?
We can be confident in His ability to provide for us and take care of us. For if He can do it for the seemingly insignificant part of His creation He can do it for us. There is no need for us to worry about what we do or do not have. God knows what we need and we can rest in knowing that He will take care of us.
Now in case you're wondering, I also used to ask myself the same question. If I work and I provide for myself then God has nothing to do with that and I'm my own provider right? Well, wrong.
Here's why. God gave us everything we have.
Well I came up with that business idea myself!
True, but God gives us intellect and gifts and talents to use to bless others as well as provide for us.
There is nothing we have that was not given to us by God.
The job you have, your car, your family as well as intellect was all given to you by God. Now since He has provided for you in the past in mighty ways what will stop Him from doing it again.
When you lose your job, Gods provides in a different way He is able to. Trust Him.
Meditate on Scripture. Instead of replaying the anxious thoughts in your mind, fix your eyes on God and speak the Word to yourself.
Memorise the verse that reminds you of God's Word and who He is. Our worry comes from a lack of knowing Him and remembering what He has done. We will remember this when we read His Word.
One more thing to remember about God's provision is that He provides abundantly of Himself. When we cry out to Him wanting all these material things He sometimes meets those needs by giving us Himself for He is what we need in those moments. We might be praying for good things like godly friends or marriage but instead of God giving us that He gives us Himself and fills those longings and desires with Himself. For there is no longing we have that He cannot fill. And when it comes to physical needs like hunger, He provides for us in that as well.
So do not be anxious.
Until next time. :)
Luke 12:29-30- “And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them.”
